Im getting around 75 DPS with this build

So what do you guys think of it?

Imo change Distracting to something like Natural Stride, Forked to Dual, Brutal weapon to a conjure. And you could a rez.

DShot is arguably the single strongest ranger skill out there.
To change it for an unspecced defense stance is silly.
tbh, I rarely run natty/LR/any defensive stance on my ranger in PvE... they end up being unused, stuff rarely attacks rangers.

DShot is strong, but on a regular Ranger. If you want DPS, get something like Disrupting Shot.

Pure high DPS

[keen arrow][Point Blank Shot][Zojun's Shot]

If you re interested in purely high DPS go with a vamp short bow for a faster firing rate.

And if you like to see LOT of big yellow numbers go [barrage] [volley] with [heart of holy flame] in Shard of Orr. (a wide screen is recommended)

Your build looka mighty good however, to bad i'm deleting my ranger today (his 2nd B-day, had to wait)

Considering it's a PvE build, I'm surprised there's no [Triple Shot] or [Dual Shot].

Also considering that it's PvE, henches/heroes are probably going to end up sticking enchants on you some of the time, limiting your use. Your only ways to avoid that would be to switch to using a Conjure, or to play with other people that know not to cast enchantments on you.

[keen arrow] is an excellent skill to use with high investments in marksmanship and if you take Paragon heroes using [go for the eyes] its an even better choice of skill to use.

At 16 marksmanship Keen Arrow does +21 damage and another +37 damage if you land a critical hit. So really considering its short recharge and low energy cost i'd say its far from a crap skill to use. But however i do agree its not a spammable skill like Penetrating, Sundering or Needling.

The only problem with [brutal weapon] and [forked arrow] is that if you get enchanted they become useless. In most PvE you will probably be enchanted - things like [aegis] for example. These can seriously hurt the effectiveness of this build.

That is one thing, and that's why I stick with the standard Turret Ranger.

[Sloth Hunter's Shot] is better, simply because the condition for the extra damage is easier to meet.

Imo you can do even more damage with just three skills: [glass arrows][point blank shot][zojun's shot]
And of course bring along [distracting shot]. That's about 70-80 damage on casters per hit.
Sometimes I bring along [brutal weapon], which raises me up to about 100 damage per hit on casters.
Energy is no problem either, and PBS and ZS are spammable.

Add a rez and a PvE Only skill or two, like [skill]I Am The Strongest[/skill] and maybe a stance to the bar and stuff dies fast.

So lets see, with the Att spread above heres what you get,

Arrow 38 base (speculating you meet the Bow Reqirement, have a 15% mod and customized)
Glass Arrows +20
PBS +40
Brutal Weapon +10 (could be more, could be less, depens on your runes/atts
I am Strong +20 (at max Norn)
Vamp String +5

So thats 133 base, for 8 attacks, who knows how much once armor is figured in, don't feel like doing that much math atm, it is a Monday after all.

With 15 expertise 14 marks and 8 communing im getting about ~76dps
thats not much more then i get with my build and above that you need to get really close to the enemy

When I get home today I'll have to go chuck some arrows at some dummies and see.

How's your energy in that build of your's?

What happens if Prepared Shot misses or gets blocked?

With the build Taisayacho and I posted energy is Never an Issue, infact I don't even run radiant armor when using it, which means I can then run Survivors OR extra armor nsignias so I'm OK being in close.

PLUS I have a Rez, you know, for the Team, I'm a team player.
AND a Stance for a bit of damage midigation, Prolly LR, maybe WD.

So sameish DPS (by your numbers) better energy, better damage miditgation, more health/Armor and the team oriented Rez Sig = More versitle build.

Not sure what PvE skills you have and what ranks they are, but the +dmg Ebon Ward is a good one. Prep Shot should help counter the cost. Your allies will also benefit so you're not the only one getting the +dmg.

Conjures are also good because they're armor ignoring and enchants won't screw you up.

Thing is, conjure spells (take your pick out of [[conjure [email protected]], [[conjure [email protected]] or [[conjure [email protected]]) give more extra damage than [[brutal [email protected]]. Surely, you cannot use a vampiric bow then, but at least you can be enchanted (so no sudden drops in DPS). It also lasts longer, less time spend casting buffs = more DPS.

[[glass arrows] is also something you might want to take a look at.
